About the Green Screen
Green is the industry's chroma-key color for a reason: camera sensors capture more detail in the green channel than red or blue, and it contrasts cleanly with most skin tones. A solid green fill also doubles as a fast way to check the green sub-pixel on your own display.
Common uses
- Use as a chroma-key background for video calls, streaming, or simple compositing
- Isolate the green sub-pixel — a stuck-off green sub-pixel shows up as a magenta dot against green
- Check panel uniformity, since green highlights blotching and clouding well
- Provide a low-glare, restful color for short eye breaks during long screen sessions
- Demonstrate additive color mixing in classroom or design settings
